or cicling this peninsula. franciscan monastery in makarska in the year 1498.makarska was devastated by war ,the st.peter's chatedral was ruined.all that left of the parish was church of madona ,on the east end. three years later the franciscan from bosnia asked the turkish authorities their approval to return and re-establish the religious needs of local population,normal co-life,tradeing and ,most important to authorities,paying taxes.so finaly in the year 1502.they wishes were grounted offically by document and that is the first writen document that mentions town of makarska.that document ,along with 369 other turkish documents,5000 books,24 inkabulas and many magazines and manuscripts,is held in library of the monastery that was establish by the 1518.the monastery was ruined many times by either wars,fires,floods or earthquakes like 1667. and 1962.in spite of all that the monastery was rebuilted and expended so today has a worldwide recognited malacology museum
